Nature on your Doorstep

Nature on Your Doorstep will take place at the Courtenay Centre on Saturday 22nd June from 11.00am – 3.00pm. There will be lots of free activities going on for people of all ages!

The information hub will include stalls from a wide range of organisations sharing information about local nature and green projects. Alongside local groups including Action for Climate Teignbridge, Newton Abbot Seed Bank and the Newton Abbot Allotment Association, the event will welcome bigger organisations including the Environment Agency and Dartmoor National Park Authority. The stalls will offer information about current projects and activities, as well as an opportunity for you to find out how you can get involved and make a difference in your local community. Everyone is welcome to visit the Nature on Your Doorstep information hub, and there is no need to book.

Alongside the exhibitors, a programme of speakers and workshops will be running throughout the event. These workshops are for people of all ages and sessions on offer include local children’s authors, yoga taster sessions and speakers talking about everything from wild swimming to bushcraft. The workshop and speakers sessions are FREE but tickets MUST be prebooked. You can find more details and book here.

The event also promises plenty of FREE family fun, with demonstrations taking place outside, plenty of activities for children and a craft room dedicated to nature themed crafts. In our craft room you’ll be able to make and take away plenty of nature-themed craft items (please note that children visiting the craft room must be accompanied by a parent/carer). Booking is not required for the craft room, but you may have to wait a while if it gets very busy.

The Courtenay Centre Café will be open throughout the event, offering hot/cold drinks, nature themed snacks and lunches.

Please note that the Courtenay Centre car park will be closed during the event due to the outside activities taking place. We encourage you to walk/cycle to the event. If you need to drive, the Cricketfield pay & display car park is next door to the Courtenay Centre.

For more information, check out the Courtenay Centre Facebook page in the run-up to the event.
