South Devon Singers Community Choir

Sad, funny, angry, and inspirational songs inspired by humanity’s relationship with Planet Earth

Celebrating twenty years since its first performances – at Dawlish Leisure Centre alongside 300 local children – South Devon Singers Community Choir has included environmentally-themed and science-inspired choral songs since it was founded by its MD, composer David Haines.

As songwriter-in-residence with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Science Festival, David visited Cambridge MA annually from 2007 to 2019 for several weeks each year until the pandemic, when he continued science songwriting workshops with the city’s school students via Zoom from his Teignmouth home.

We’re an open-to-all, non-auditioned choir – branches in Teignmouth (Mondays) and Ivybridge (Tuesdays). We warmly welcome ‘newbies’ all year round. No experience nor ability to read music required, and we have lots of online resources to aid learning and practice. You won’t find a friendlier, more supportive singing group!
